KIRKCO provides a comprehensive range of mixing heads designed to cater to various polyurethane processing needs, encompassing both low and high-pressure options. low-pressure mix heads with mixing chambers and outputs suitable for different materials and required production rates, including micro-dose amounts. Multiple mixing heads are available, each with various sizes and styles for different applications.

Low-Pressure Mixing Heads

The mixing head assembly is crucial for the entire foam processing unit. It thoroughly mixes metered materials within the mixing chamber and dispenses them through the nozzle outlet orifice based on the pour timer. KIRKCO manufactures four low-pressure mixing head sizes covering an output range from 1/4 to 400 lbs./min. The standard low-pressure mixing head assembly includes major parts made from steel, a Teflon-coated aluminum or stainless steel mixer, and Teflon or Viton seals.

Precision-manufactured impingement-type high-pressure mixing heads are available for open and closed mold injection processes. These heads feature self-cleaning mixing and dispense chambers with hydraulically controlled high-precision fit plungers. The facility to introduce a third and/or fourth component directly into the mixing chamber is present, allowing for additives or colors. The system includes double hydraulic solenoid valve control with interlock for correct sequential operation, a 7.5 kW hydraulic unit, and benefits from high-pressure metering technology.

KIRKCO's L-style and straight polyurethane foam mixing heads are engineered for reliable and cost-effective high-pressure polyurethane processing. These heads provide high-pressure impingement mixing, ensuring durability across various open mold and closed mold applications.

Straight Type Mixing Head

In the recirculation mode, both materials flow through control orifices and recirculation grooves on each side of a precision plunger, circulating back to the machine tanks. When a dispense cycle is initiated, the double-acting cylinder actuates the plunger, allowing both materials to impinge at pressures up to 3,500 psi before exiting the chamber—ideal for closed mold applications.
